As a portrait photographer based in Casper, Wyoming, I thrive on capturing the essence of my subjects in the most breathtaking locations. Each photo shoot offers a new adventure, a story waiting to be told through my lens. One of my recent sessions was particularly memorable—an extraordinary day spent with a Buddhist monk, Annie, amid the serene backdrop of the Seminoe Sand Dunes in South East Wyoming.

The Adventure Begins

The journey to the Seminoe Sand Dunes was an adventure in itself. I accidentally took the wrong turn and we got lost for about 30 minutes! Once we finally arrived at the sand dunes, we were welcomed with expansive views of Ferris Mountain and the tranquil beauty of the dunes. We spent a little while walking around the dunes and making a game plan, as she packed a few different robes to wear for the shoot, and I packed a mirror to use as a prop. Each step we took was an opportunity for reflection and anticipation of the visual harmony we were about to capture!

A Unique Photographic Experience

Photographing a Buddhist monk in such a unique environment was a privilege. The session was not just about taking photos; it was about capturing a narrative of peace, tranquility, and the monk’s intimate connection with the surroundings. This shoot was different from any I had done before- it was a blend of nature, spirituality, and human connection, each element magnifying the other. The simplicity and elegance of her robes, her peaceful demeanor, and the use of the mirror to signify self reflection, photographed so beautifully against the rugged beauty of the Wyoming dunes.

Conclusion

This photo shoot at the Seminole Sand Dunes with a Buddhist monk was an enlightening experience that went beyond typical portrait photography.
